I love America. Here I found incredible opportunities, new ideas and possibilities without limit. In Peru I was pursuing a law degree and considered myself a cultivated person, but my English was limited. Upon my arrival in Vermont, I worked as a restaurant dishwasher and busboy at a ski area. I had to start fresh on the bottom rung of a tall ladder. But I knew the only way to succeed was to climb- one rung at a time.

I moved to New York City and went back to school, taking classes during the day and working the overnight shift at JFK airport, surrounded by baggage, working in freezing temperatures on the ramp at night. I knew my path to success lay in teamwork. Very few great things in life are accomplished independently. With a lot of hard work, dedication and time I was promoted to Manager of JFK International Terminal 4. It seemed the harder I worked the higher I climbed. The more I helped people, the more they helped me. The diversity I found in NYC ignited my pride in Peru and its culture.

Then Cabot and I met in New York and found we shared a lot in common- despite our different backgrounds. I told him about the incredible tradition of Peruvian Superfoods and how they help millions of people stay healthy. He realized we could help people here too. Crazy story but true: I am from Peru and found my first American job in Vermont; Cabot is from Vermont and grew up in a town called Peru. Amor Cura was meant to happen.

I grew up in rural Vermont in a family of storekeepers, the fourth generation to work in retail- running a store, stocking shelves, serving customers. We sell everything from food to clothing to personal wellness products. Health and wellness is a passion for me, especially creating new products that might improve people’s lives or make them feel better. I am always fascinated by new product ideas and new ingredients no one has encountered. Great retail is really about great storytelling. It’s also a treasure hunt. You never stop searching for the next special product.

When our wives introduced us, I hit it off with Dante right away. We both loved travel and great food and wellness and adventure. Within 30 minutes Dante had me convinced to visit Peru for the first time and to see in person why it’s such a unique and important place. Peru opened my eyes opened to the miracle of ancient agriculture and herbal healing that has been a way of life there for thousands of years.

I knew we had a rare opportunity to share some of the remarkable superfoods Dante grew up with. We call Amor Cura “The Rarest Drink On Earth”. What’s truly rare is finding a kindred spirit from a completely different way of life, and to act on a dream that may seem crazy and full of challenges, yet full of potential to make life better for others.
